Formerly known as Borneo Water & Wastewater Exhibition (BWWE), it was an initiative of the Malaysian Water Association, first organised in 2010 in conjunction with the Water Safety Plan Conference. In 2022, Over the years, it has attracted participants from a diverse range of countries, including Australia, Britain, Cambodia, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Vietnam, among others.

Rebranded as the Borneo International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC) for its 5th installment in 2022, the event aims to elevate its brand presence and enhance global exposure. As the leading water and wastewater management conference in Borneo, BIWWEC endeavors to amplify its impact and reach, fostering greater recognition and engagement on a global scale.

With an engaging theme of “Bridging Solutions for Water Sustainability” and the tagline Flowing Future, BIWWEC 2024 aims to work on active solutions and synergistic efforts through smart technology and innovation in Borneo. 

This edition of BIWWEC 2024 is centered around these pillars: Energy Efficiency, Reduction of Non-Revenue Water (NRW), Innovative Asset Management, and Innovation Drivers (Digital Technology, AI, Decentralized Solutions).
